Painful Vacation
My Perfect Ass ® hurts. Bicycling 50 miles in one day will do that to you especially if you haven't done a lot of biking in the past year. Today everything hurts actually, not just my Perfect Ass ®. Even my scalp hurts.
Last night I slept terribly. I think it was because my body was trying to heal itself and having a hard time. I had fever dreams. Thusly, today I have been in a bad mood, halfway between grumpy and melancholy.
Even so, it was a beautiful day yesterday in Jim Thorpe.
The Lehigh Gorge State Park is a great place to go and bike or walk or run. It is even better on a weekday in the fall when you don't have to battle the crowds of families who don't know how to get out of the way when they see a bike approaching them. Pain in the ass families like this one:
That was the best part about yesterday, for about 6 hours we only saw a dozen people at most.
Jim Thorpe is a nice little boring town up near the Poconos. If you go there you can see the Harry Packer mansion.
Which was the inspiration for the Haunted Mansion at Disney World in Florida.
The strangest thing about yesterday was what I saw while we were on the Pennsylvania Turnpike I saw the worst tree ever. Initially it looked like a tree, a tall half-dead tree. Then it dawned on me that there ain't no pine trees growing in PA that tall. I remembered that I had read about these trees. This wasn't a tree at all. It was a CELL PHONE TOWER.
I hope you see one of these someday because they are horrible.
