All my computers loathe me. I'm sure of it. I mean, they hate me so much they are in the process of killing themselves. Actually my monitor at home is killing it self and my computer at work attempted to commit suicide.
This all started about 2 weeks ago. I came home after work and turned on my computer. The monitor was working fine but it was acting strange. I mostly noticed that the image on the screen was jumpy. Sometimes it would hiccup and shrink a bit. Then about a week ago, I turned the computer on. The monitor was completely dead and there was a faint electrical fire smell. I cut the power to the monitor. Blandman has been working saying the monitor's life, but it doesn't look good. Some days the monitor works and some days it doesn't. Some days it takes an hour of warming up before it starts to work. On the days it does work, it let's out little gasps and shakes. There has been talk of replacement. I think I am ready to let go.
As for my PC at work…2 days ago around 4:00pm I was working on this big ass presentation for my boss. Suddenly the PC hissed at me and then made a horrible zapping noise like lightening. It sounded like this:
It made me yell,
and jump up from my chair. I was pretty sure that the PC was trying to kill itself and take me along with it. But that little plan failed.
I ended up calling the help desk and they sent one of the IT guys down. He took away my PC. I was pretty sure that it had completely done itself in and when I came back the next day, I would have a new PC. But the joke was on me. The next morning, there was my dead PC, come back to life on my desk. So far it is acting fine, but I'm trying not to antagonize it.
